Designing Coherent Pathways through the Curriculum: Lessons from NILOA's Assignment Library Initiative

Assignments -- the examinations, projects, papers, and presentations designed by faculty and required of students - -are where lofty, often abstract goals for learning get translated into meaningful action on the ground. They are also a powerful focus for faculty collaboration and reflective practice, as evidenced by NILOA’s work on assignment design. In this session we will look at the process of assignment design as a context for creating more coherent, powerful pathways to learning that matters.
