Assessment Mapping: Linking Core Competencies to Core Concepts in STEM Education
Assessment of conceptual knowledge in Biology is often emphasized at the expense of core competencies (e.g., quantitative reasoning, communication). Using a novel survey approach and visualization tool that links skills with concepts, Biology faculty identified curricular weaknesses, developed assessment plans, and identified curricular changes to address program concepts and competencies.
