A Credit for Prior Learning Primer: Implementing Policy and Practice for Excellence and Sustainability

This Topical Lunch session will focus on the implementation of effective credit for prior learning practices to help raise postsecondary credential completion rates.  Join the American Council on Education (ACE) and a diverse group of institutions in an interactive session to learn how to address critical implementation questions: aligning practice with mission, creating a faculty-driven process, building sufficient infrastructure, developing feedback mechanisms, and collecting data. Facilitators will highlight research and trends and engage participants in a conversation on meeting challenges and building institutional support.

Goals

  • Participants leave the session with a working understanding of credit for prior learning trends, models, and effective practices.
  • Participants possess a toolkit of resources and strategies for successful CPL implementation and sustainability.
  • Participants connect with peers for follow up sharing on CPL implementation issues and strategies.
